Teaching Personnel are working with a client school in North Dorset, seeking Teaching Assistants to join their team. The school is an SEN School catering for pupils from Early Years/EYFS through to College. They cater for a range of special educational needs needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and complex needs. Some pupils have additional sensory or physical impairments, speech and language disorders or medical needs, others are on the Autistic Spectrum ASC).

The school have a range of facilities, including a state-of-the-art sensory room and wildlife area. The school is not easily reachable by public transport so access to a car is advisable.

Your role will involve working within the class to support the class teacher with their lessons. You will be working alongside a team of support staff in class and may also be required to work on a 1-1 basis. We have positions available in each age range (primary, secondary and college) so you will be matched to a class based on your experience and/or suitability.

This is a flexible working role, starting ASAP. Whether you are looking to work 1 or 5 days a week, we will be able to help you.

To be successful in this role you should:

  • Have personal, professional or voluntary experience working with individuals that have special needs or mental health difficulties
  • Be resilient and confident working with challenging behaviour
  • Be calm, empathetic and adaptable 
  • Have excellent written and verbal English skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
