SEN Teaching Assistant

Job description

We are pleased to be supporting a school’s recruitment for a Teaching Assistant. The school is based is for pupils aged 11-16 who have an Education, Healthcare plan for Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs.

The pupils are situated in a purpose-built modern building containing all the necessary facilities for these young people to thrive, including a Science Lab, Food Tech Rooms, Sports Facilities, and a Salon. This allows pupils to attain and work towards qualifications most suited to their needs whether this be GCSE or Vocational Qualifications.

Due to the pupil’s additional needs the successful TA would need to have:

  • Experience of SEMH/challenging behaviour
  • A confident and engaging personality
  • A resilient and driven mindset

Your role would involve working either with a specific pupil or specific class and move through them with out the day, This would be to provide both academic and emotional support to the pupil, by keeping them focused, displaying a good example and de-escalating challenging situations if necessary.

To be successful in your application, you must be able to provide evidence of this as skills and experience.

Please be aware that all applicants will be subject to background checks and will need a current DBS certificate (update service registered). Teaching Personnel can support your application should this be required.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm approximately, but you may be offered additional duties and responsibilities outside of these hours.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
