SEN Teaching Assistant

Job description

Flexible, part time SEN teaching assistant work available for the academic year 2019/2020

Two schools based near Tower Hamlets are offering ‘bank staff’ work for SEN teaching assistants who are able to support children with autism.

Schools regularly need to cover staff absence including sickness, training courses, meetings, trips, medical appointments or other unplanned absences, by using ‘bank staff’. You will be called for work with as much advance notice as the schools can provide.

The two schools cater for children with autism. One school is primary and the other is secondary. The primary school is more severe learning difficulties, where many students are non-verbal and engage more in sensory development.

  • Daily pay rate GBP58 - GBP85 per day, dependent on which school and your experience/ability
  • Working hours are 08:30am – 16:30pm and you will get a lunch break
  • Work is available Monday-Friday, term time only, and you can choose how many days per week you would like to be called for work
  • Experience of SEN, in whatever form whether primary or secondary or school based or non school based, is essential
  • Training in safeguarding, child protection, autism awareness, PECs, Makaton, personal care, multi-sensory impairment, first aid or any other school related CPD is desirable
  • Both schools are well served by public transport including bus routes and the Croydon tram system
