A supportive and inclusive primary school in the Platt Bridge / Ince area of Wigan is looking to appoint a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

The school is part of a well-established primary academy trust and is committed to ensuring that every child receives the support they need to achieve their potential.

The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and the wider school team to provide additional support to pupils with a range of special educational needs.

The role may involve:

• 1:1 support
• Small-group interventions
• Supporting pupils with communication and interaction needs
• Supporting children with autism or ADHD
• Helping pupils manage emotions and behaviour
• Supporting children to access the wider curriculum

The school is conveniently located for candidates living in Platt Bridge, Ince, Abram, Hindley, Wigan and Ashton-in-Makerfield. The area is accessible by road via the A58 and A573, with good connections towards Wigan and the surrounding communities. Local bus routes also serve Platt Bridge, Ince and the surrounding areas.

The ideal candidate will be patient, resilient, nurturing and consistent, with the ability to build positive relationships with children.

Previous school experience is desirable, although candidates with backgrounds in care, youth work, residential settings, sports coaching or similar environments are encouraged to apply.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
