SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Warrington

Contract: Full Time
Salary: Competitive and based on experience

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a welcoming and supportive SEN secondary school in the Warrington area to recruit a full‑time SEN Teaching Assistant starting in May. This role will involve supporting pupils with moderate special educational needs such as Autism and moderate learning disabilities, helping them to access the curriculum and develop both academically and socially within a structured school environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and committed individual who is experienced in supporting young people with SEN and is looking for a rewarding full‑time role.

The Role:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with moderate SEN
  • Supporting students both in and out of the classroom to engage with learning
  • Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and differentiation
  • Helping pupils to develop confidence, independence, and social skills
  • Managing behaviour positively in line with school policies
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff

Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, ideally in a secondary school setting
  • An Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
