SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Secondary SEN School, Warrington

Are you passionate about supporting young people with diverse Special Educational Needs such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH needs (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), speech and language difficulties, sensory needs, and moderate learning difficulties?
A welcoming and well-resourced secondary SEN school in Warrington is seeking a confident and committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team on a full-time basis.
✨ The Role
As an HLTA, you will play a key role in helping students access learning, build confidence, and achieve their potential. Every day will bring variety, purpose, and the chance to make a genuine difference.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting teaching and learning across KS3–KS4, including leading small group interventions.
- Delivering planned activities and occasionally covering lessons in the teacher’s absence.
- Working 1:1 with pupils with specific SEN needs to promote engagement and progress.
- Assisting with behaviour support using school policies and positive behaviour strategies.
- Creating an inclusive, nurturing, and safe learning environment.
- Collaborating with teachers, pastoral staff, therapists, and parents/carers.
- Helping develop personalised learning resources tailored to individual needs.
✔️ Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- Previous experience working with children or young people (school, youth work, care, tutoring etc.
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- Full, clean UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
- A patient, proactive, and engaging approach to supporting young people.
- Confidence in supporting a range of SEN needs.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine desire to help pupils thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
