Job description

We are recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a highly supportive, therapeutic school environment.

This role goes beyond traditional classroom support — it’s about building trust, repairing relationships, and helping young people succeed where they’ve previously struggled.

The Role

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH and additional needs
  • Help pupils regulate emotions and re-engage with learning
  • Build strong, consistent relationships with students
  • Support a trauma-informed, structured approach to behaviour
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team (teachers, therapists, pastoral staff)

We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with SEMH, behaviour or vulnerable young people
  • Strong emotional resilience and patience
  • A calm, consistent and empathetic approach
  • Ability to de-escalate challenging situations effectively
  • Passion for supporting students who need it most

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
