SEN Teaching Assistant – Sunderland, SR4 | September Start
Pay: £92–£110 per day

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school in Sunderland (SR4) from September. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a varied school environment and is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of pupils with Special Educational Needs.
The Role
- Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs on a one-to-one and small group basis.
- Working closely with teachers and SENCOs to deliver tailored support strategies.
- Encouraging pupil engagement, confidence, and independence.
- Assisting with classroom activities and helping to create a positive learning environment.
- Supporting pupils both academically and socially throughout the school day.
About You
- Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs is essential.
- You have a positive, proactive, and "get stuck in" attitude.
- You remain calm, patient, and professional, even in challenging situations.
- You are able to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- An interest in extracurricular activities, particularly sports, is highly desirable, as candidates who enjoy getting involved in wider school life often thrive in this setting.
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs.
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Relevant qualifications are advantageous but not essential for candidates with suitable experience.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
