Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to work across a range of primary and secondary schools throughout South Yorkshire.

We are looking for passionate, patient and dedicated individuals who are committed to supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Whether you are an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant or have previous experience supporting pupils with additional needs, we have a range of opportunities available to suit your experience and availability.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils to help them access learning, develop their confidence and achieve their potential. You may work on a one-to-one basis, within small groups or as part of a wider classroom team.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEND
• Supporting pupils to access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities
• Working alongside teachers and SENCOs to implement individual support strategies
• Supporting pupils with communication, social, emotional and behavioural needs
• Helping pupils develop independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours
• Providing encouragement and reassurance to pupils throughout the school day
• Supporting classroom routines and positive behaviour management
• Adapting learning resources to meet individual needs
• Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Working closely with teachers, support staff and families where appropriate

What We're Looking For

We are particularly interested in candidates who have:

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND
• A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification, such as Level 2 or Level 3, would be desirable
• Experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs, autism, ADHD, SEMH or communication difficulties
• A patient, caring and empathetic approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils
• A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting individual needs
• The ability to work effectively as part of a school team

Experience within a school, SEN setting, specialist provision, care or support environment would be highly beneficial.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
