Job Title: SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant (IR Unit)

About the Role:
Teaching Personnel is recruiting for a dedicated and experienced SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant to work within a school’s Inclusion Resource (IR) Unit. This role involves supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about inclusive education and making a meaningful difference in the lives of children who require additional support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils within the IR unit

  • Assist the class teacher and SENCO in delivering personalised learning plans

  • Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction

  • Implement behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques where required

  • Help create a structured, safe, and supportive learning environment

  • Monitor and record pupil progress, contributing to review meetings and reports

  • Encourage independence and promote positive learning behaviours

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is essential

  • Experience supporting pupils with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language needs is highly desirable

  • A relevant qualification in Education, SEN, or Childcare (Level 2 or above preferred)

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

  • Excellent communication, patience, and resilience

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one through Teaching Personnel)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
