Job Title: SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant (IR Unit)

About the Role:
Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a school’s Inclusion Resource (IR) Unit. This role involves working closely with students who have a range of special educational needs, including autism (ASC), ADHD, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting students in a structured and nurturing environment, helping them access education and develop key life skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support within the IR unit
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
  • Support students with additional needs, including behavioural and emotional support
  • Help implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Encourage student engagement, independence, and confidence
  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (preferred)
  • Understanding of additional needs such as ASC, ADHD, or SEMH
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Team Teach – desirable but not essential)
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
