1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (Year 6) – September Start
Location: Primary School in Gosport
Contract: Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026

We are seeking a dedicated, resilient, and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs from September.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a strong and compassionate individual who can build positive relationships, provide consistent support, and help a child achieve both academically and emotionally during their final year of primary school.

The Role

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil with SEMH needs.
  • Support the child's emotional regulation, engagement, and learning throughout the school day.
  • Implement strategies and interventions in line with the pupil's individual needs and support plans.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, parents, and external professionals.
  • Promote positive behaviour, independence, and self-esteem.
  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with children with SEMH, behavioural, or additional learning needs.
  • Is calm, patient, resilient, and able to remain positive in challenging situations.
  • Can build strong, trusting relationships with children.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is committed to supporting children's wellbeing and educational progress.
  • Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or has equivalent experience (desirable).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
