Teaching Assistant (SEN Support – Year 1)
Full Time | Term Time Only | September Start | Crawley Area

A warm and welcoming primary school in the Crawley area, rated Good by Ofsted, is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team from September. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a nurturing Year 1 classroom, supporting pupils with behavioural and additional learning needs to thrive both academically and emotionally.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning within the classroom, working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support for children who benefit from additional behavioural and emotional guidance.

You will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support within a Year 1 class
  • Help pupils build confidence, resilience, and positive relationships
  • Support children to engage successfully with learning
  • Implement behaviour strategies in a calm and consistent manner
  • Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about supporting children with SEN and behavioural needs
  • Calm, patient, and empathetic in their approach
  • Able to build strong and trusting relationships with pupils
  • A positive team player with excellent communication skills
  • Experienced working with children in a school or care setting (desirable but not essential)

  • Enhanced child-only DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
