Sen Teaching Assistant

Location: Burnley
Salary: £14.25 - £15.50 per hour
Contract: Full-Time: 8.30am – 3.30pm
Start Date: Monday 2^nd November 2026

SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant

Key Responsibilities

-       Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs.

-       Assist the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in classroom activities.

-       Implement strategies and interventions as directed by the class teacher and SENCO.

-       Support the pupil's social, emotional, and behavioural development.

-       Build positive relationships that encourage confidence, independence, and engagement.

-       Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.

-       Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support the pupil's individual needs.

-       Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

-       Experience working with children, ideally within an educational or SEN setting.

-       Knowledge of additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, or learning needs.

-       Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

-       A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.

-       The ability to adapt learning and support strategies to meet individual needs.

-       A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

-       Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
