Job description

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Burnley

Start date: ASAP

Contract type: Full time (Monday-Friday, 8:30-3:30) 

Pay rate: £12.90 - £15.25 p/h.

An excellent specialist provision in the Burnley area is looking for a Teaching Assistant to join their team from May 2024! This SEN provision provides extensive support to pupils with SEN, priding themselves in a team of highly skilled and experienced staff and utilising additional services such as a sensory studio.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing 1-1 support to pupils with additional needs, tailoring their curriculum and daily structure to ensure they have a smooth and successful school experience. You will facilitate the child’s participation in classroom activities, promote social interaction and support their individual learning and development. You will be required to implement behaviour management strategies and facilitate the child’s communication and language development through alternative communication methods.

Role requirements:

  • Relevant experience supporting children with SEN.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques.
  • Empathy, patience and a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
