Every child deserves someone who believes in them. If you're a compassionate, resilient and proactive individual with experience supporting children or young people with additional needs, this could be the opportunity you've been searching for.

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant for a specialist educational setting in Burrowbridge. This rewarding position offers the chance to work alongside a dedicated team supporting pupils with a range of complex learning needs, helping them develop confidence, independence and the skills they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

No two days are the same in this setting. You'll work closely with teachers to deliver personalised learning, encourage positive behaviour, provide emotional reassurance and adapt your support to suit each pupil's individual needs. Whether you're helping a learner engage with an activity, celebrating a personal achievement or supporting emotional regulation, you'll play a vital role in every child's educational journey.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who already has experience working with children or vulnerable young people and is confident stepping into a busy specialist environment from day one. You'll need to be patient, adaptable and committed to creating positive outcomes for pupils who require additional encouragement to thrive.

We're keen to hear from applicants who have:

  • Previous experience working within education, SEND, care, youth work or a similar support-based role.
  • A calm and positive approach when working with children who may present additional behavioural or communication needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs to achieve their potential.
  • The confidence to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.

While formal qualifications aren't essential, relevant experience is highly valued, and the school is particularly interested in candidates who can settle into the role quickly and make an immediate positive impact.

Why choose Teaching Personnel?

  • Weekly PAYE pay with no hidden umbrella company deductions.
  • A dedicated consultant who will support you throughout your placement.
  • Access to exclusive SEND opportunities across Somerset and Dorset.
  • Free and discounted CPD, including safeguarding, SEND and behaviour management training.
  • Opportunities to secure long-term, temporary-to-permanent and permanent roles.
  • Ongoing career advice and support from one of the UK's leading education recruitment specialists.

If you're passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and want to join a supportive specialist setting, we'd love to hear from you.
