Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support – Year 1, ADHD)

Location: South Shore, Blackpool (FY4)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, term-time only
Agency: Teaching Personnel

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child in Year 1 with ADHD at a welcoming and supportive primary school in the South Shore area of Blackpool (FY4), starting in September 2026.

The Role

You will work closely with a pupil who requires additional support to access learning, maintain focus, and regulate behaviour within the classroom environment. The role will involve:

  • Providing tailored 1:1 support throughout the school day
  • Supporting the child’s academic, social, and emotional development
  • Implementing strategies to support attention, engagement, and behaviour regulation
  • Building a strong, positive relationship with the pupil
  • Working collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO
  • Promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children with ADHD or additional needs (school-based or similar setting)
  • Is patient, resilient, and nurturing
  • Has strong behaviour management skills
  • Can adapt learning and communication styles to suit individual needs
  • Is committed to supporting every child to reach their potential
  • Holds a relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant – desirable but not essential)

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Minimum of two professional references
  • Right to work in the UK

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
