SEN Teaching Assistant – Sheffield & Barnsley | Immediate & September Starts

Are you a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking to support pupils with additional needs in a rewarding new role? Schools across Sheffield and Barnsley are actively seeking SEN TAs to join their dedicated teams for immediate and September 2025 starts.


Locations: Sheffield & Barnsley

Role: SEN Teaching Assistant (EYFS, KS1, KS2, or Secondary settings available)

Start Date: ASAP & September 2025

⏰ Contract: Full-Time / Part-Time | Long-Term, Short-Term or Temp-to-Perm


✏️ Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEND (e.g. autism, ADHD, speech & language needs, SEMH)
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists
  • Adapt resources and activities to meet individual needs
  • Support learning, emotional regulation, and social development
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment

✅ Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualification (or equivalent) is desirable
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm, nurturing attitude
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
