Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable young people who struggle to engage in mainstream education?

We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEN school in the High Peak area for a dedicated and compassionate Specialised Teaching Assistant to join their Bespoke Pathways Team from September.

This unique role focuses on supporting children and young people who have been excluded from school or are unable to access traditional classroom-based education. You will work directly with pupils in a variety of community-based settings, including their homes, family centres, education centres, libraries and other suitable learning environments across North Derbyshire.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives on building positive relationships, overcoming barriers to learning and helping young people re-engage with education through personalised support.

The Role

As part of the Bespoke Pathways Team, you will:

• Deliver personalised one-to-one educational and pastoral support.
• Support pupils with a range of additional needs, including SEND, SEMH and behavioural challenges.
• Build trusting and positive relationships with students who may have experienced difficulties within traditional school settings.
• Adapt learning approaches to meet individual needs and learning styles.
• Promote emotional wellbeing, confidence, resilience and engagement.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, families and external professionals to support positive outcomes.
• Maintain accurate records of progress, attendance and student engagement.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and contribute to risk assessments where required.
• Travel throughout North Derbyshire to support learners in community settings.

The Ideal Candidate

We are keen to hear from candidates who have experience in any of the following:

• Teaching Assistant
• Learning Mentor
• Behaviour Mentor
• Youth Worker
• SEND Support Worker
• Education Support Worker
• Residential Childcare
• Alternative Provision
• Mental Health Support

You will ideally have:

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
• Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
• Confidence working independently and using your initiative.
• Experience delivering one-to-one interventions or mentoring.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A calm, patient and resilient approach.
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
