Job description

Greenford (UB6) | Supply & Long-term opportunities

We’re looking for experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to join a specialist school in Greenford, supporting pupils with Autism (ASC) and PMLD.

This is a setting for people who understand complex needs properly — not a stepping stone from mainstream.

Most pupils are pre-verbal, have high sensory needs, and require consistent, hands-on support throughout the day.

The role

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Working closely with the class teacher and therapists
  • Supporting sensory-based learning and daily routines
  • Assisting with personal care (feeding, toileting, changing)
  • Helping pupils stay engaged, regulated and safe

What they’re looking for

  • Experience with ASC and/or PMLD (essential)
  • Comfortable with personal care
  • Someone proactive and switched on – not waiting for direction constantly
  • Reliable and consistent — pupils need familiar faces
  • Physically able to support pupils where required

What the school is like

  • Structured and well-run — staff know what’s expected
  • Strong team culture, with good support in class
  • High standards, but fair
  • Pupils who benefit massively from the right adults around them

The reality

This isn’t an easy role, but it’s a rewarding one if you’re the right person.
They don’t need extra bodies — they need people who can come in, get involved, and build trust with the pupils.

What’s on offer

  • Regular work, especially heading into Autumn
  • Opportunity to move into a long-term role
  • Chance to attend a trial/observation day before committing
  • A setting that will keep strong staff on

Next steps

If you’ve worked in a similar environment and know this is your area, it’s worth a conversation.

We can talk you through the school properly and arrange a visit so you can see if it’s the right fit before committing.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
