SEN Teaching Assistant – ADHD & ASD Support

Location: Blackburn
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Type: Full-Time (Term Time Only)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

About the Role

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Blackburn from September. This role focuses on providing tailored support for pupils with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), helping them to engage positively with their learning and development.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver structured support, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive both academically and socially.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ADHD and ASD
  • Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, focus, and social interaction
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCO, and external professionals
  • Monitor and report on student progress and wellbeing

Requirements

  • Experience working with children with SEN, particularly ADHD and/or ASD
  • Understanding of behaviour management strategies and sensory needs
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) are desirable
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
