Job Opportunity: SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support) – Burnley Primary School

We are seeking a confident, compassionate, and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Burnley. This is a 1:1 role supporting a pupil in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) who requires additional help to access group and class learning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with complex needs, including physical behaviours towards peers and adults.
• Help the pupil engage with group activities and classroom learning.
• Implement strategies that promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored interventions.
• Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

Ideal Candidate:

• Has experience working with children with SEN, particularly those displaying challenging behaviour.
• Is confident in managing physical behaviours in a calm and professional manner.
• Understands or is trained in trauma-informed practice.
• Is patient, resilient, and able to build trusting relationships with children.
• Holds a relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEN training) – desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
