Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (term time, plus inset days)

A caring, inclusive, and child-focused school in the Hollywater area of Bordon is looking to appoint a Class Teacher to lead a small class of pupils with severe learning difficulties (SLD) and attachment-related needs.

The school supports children with complex learning profiles, including significant cognitive delay, communication needs, autism, sensory processing differences, and social, emotional, and attachment challenges. Pupils learn within a highly structured and nurturing environment where strong relationships, consistency, and emotional security underpin all aspects of teaching and learning.

About the Role

The successful candidate will take responsibility for a small class of pupils who need high levels of support, structure, and emotional regulation throughout the school day. Teaching is highly personalised and focuses on communication, life skills, emotional development, and learning appropriate to each child’s developmental stage.

This role would suit a thoughtful and patient teacher who values relationship-based and trauma-informed practice. Applications are welcomed from teachers with experience in special education, early years, primary, or alternative provision, as well as from those keen to develop their skills within a specialist setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver personalised learning programmes for pupils with SLD and attachment needs

  • Establish a calm, predictable, and emotionally safe classroom environment

  • Develop strong, trusting relationships with pupils through consistent and nurturing practice

  • Support communication, sensory regulation, and emotional wellbeing

  • Work closely with Learning Support Assistants to provide effective classroom support

  • Use assessment, observation, and reflection to monitor progress and adapt teaching

  • Collaborate with SEN staff, therapists, and external professionals

  • Communicate positively with families and contribute to reviews and reports

  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusive practice

Who the School Is Looking For

The school welcomes applications from teachers who:

  • Are passionate about supporting pupils with complex and additional needs

  • Have an understanding of, or willingness to develop skills in, attachment- and trauma-informed practice

  • Can remain calm, flexible, and reflective in challenging situations

  • Value teamwork and collaborative approaches

  • Are resilient, compassionate, and strongly child-centred

Experience working with pupils with SLD, autism, or attachment difficulties is highly desirable; however, the school also encourages applications from teachers with transferable skills and a genuine commitment to learning and professional development.
