SEN Teacher – Alternative Provision
Location: Birkenhead & across Wirral
Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent or Supply Options Available
Start Date: September 2026
Teaching Personnel’s Wirral branch is currently recruiting for a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher to join a well-established Alternative Provision in Birkenhead, with additional sites across the Wirral.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator who thrives in a supportive yet challenging environment, working with students who require additional behavioural and emotional support.
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering engaging and tailored lessons, primarily focused on STEM subjects, to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those with:
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Challenging behaviours
- Barriers to mainstream education
You will play a key role in creating a positive, safe and structured learning environment, supporting students both academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality STEM lessons differentiated to meet individual needs
- Manage and support students displaying challenging behaviours
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
- Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team
- Track student progress and contribute to individual learning plans
Requirements
- Proven experience as an SEN Teacher is essential
- Strong background working with SEMH and challenging behaviours
- Ability to engage and motivate students who may be disengaged from education
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (QTLS)
- Resilient, patient and adaptable approach

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
