Job description

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a well-established specialist education provider in Stoke-on-Trent to recruit a committed and passionate SEN Teacher.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated team supporting children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including autism, communication difficulties, social, emotional and mental health needs, and associated learning challenges.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering engaging, personalised learning programmes that help pupils develop both academically and personally in a supportive and nurturing environment.

The Role

As an SEN Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Support pupils with a range of additional needs to achieve positive educational outcomes.
  • Create a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and wider multidisciplinary teams.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies where required.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
  • Contribute to EHCP targets and wider pastoral support strategies.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a teacher who has:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
  • A strong understanding of differentiated teaching and inclusive practice.
  • Excellent behaviour management and communication skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships and inspire confidence in learners.
  • A patient, resilient, and compassionate approach.
  • Experience within specialist, alternative provision, or SEND settings is desirable but not essential.
