SEN Teacher – Primary Schools

Location: Portsmouth, Hampshire
Contract: Full-Time
Salary: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum (paid to scale)
Start Date: ASAP

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with welcoming and inclusive primary schools in and around Portsmouth to recruit a dedicated SEN Teacher for a full-time role, starting as soon as possible.

The Role

As an SEN Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting primary-aged pupils with a range of additional learning needs. You will be responsible for creating an inclusive, structured, and nurturing learning environment where every child can thrive.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering engaging, inclusive lessons tailored to pupils with SEN

  • Planning and adapting teaching to meet individual learning needs

  • Supporting pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development

  • Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, and wider school staff

  • Creating a safe, positive, and supportive classroom environment

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is passionate about inclusive education and committed to making a real difference.

You will ideally have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Experience working with pupils with SEN or additional needs (desirable but not essential)

  • A strong understanding of differentiated and inclusive teaching strategies

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills

  • A patient, flexible, and empathetic approach

Safeguarding

  • An Enhanced Child Only DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Teaching Personnel

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
