SEMH Primary Teacher – Portsmouth
Salary: MPS/UPS – £32,916 to £51,048 per year
Contract: Full Time, Ongoing
Employer: Teaching Personnel (on behalf of a partner primary school)
Location: Portsmouth
Start Date: ASAP or September

Teaching Personnel are seeking a committed and compassionate SEMH Primary Teacher to work with one of our partner primary schools in Portsmouth. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

About the Role

As an SEMH Teacher, you will:

  • Support and teach pupils with complex SEMH needs within a nurturing primary setting.

  • Design and deliver creative, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs.

  • Foster a safe, structured environment that promotes emotional regulation and positive behaviour.

  • Use strong behaviour management skills and a calm, patient approach when working with challenging behaviours.

  • Work collaboratively with the school’s SENCO, pastoral team and Teaching Personnel support network.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a qualified primary teacher (ECTs and experienced teachers are encouraged to apply).

  • Has experience working with children with SEMH or complex additional needs.

  • Demonstrates excellent patience, resilience, and a nurturing disposition.

  • Is confident with behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.

  • Is dedicated to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.

  • Holds a full UK driving licence (essential).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
