This specialist secondary school supports pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and provides tailored education for students with a broad range of additional needs, including:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
- Complex Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (CLDD)
- Sensory Processing Difficulties
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

The Opportunity
As an SEN Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in delivering personalised learning programmes that enable pupils to thrive. Working alongside a dedicated team of teaching assistants, therapists, and specialist professionals, you will create engaging and accessible lessons that celebrate success and encourage progress at every stage.
This role would suit a reflective and adaptable teacher who is confident supporting pupils with diverse learning, communication, sensory, and behavioural needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons aligned with EHCP outcomes
- Develop personalised learning strategies that meet individual pupil needs
- Create a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment
- Lead, guide, and collaborate with teaching assistants and support staff
- Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress effectively
- Use positive behaviour support strategies and targeted interventions
- Support emotional regulation, communication, and social development
- Encourage independence, resilience, and preparation for adulthood
- Work closely with families, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams
- Contribute to EHCP reviews, annual reviews, and progress meetings
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Previous experience teaching within SEN settings
- Experience supporting pupils with complex needs, including ASC, PMLD, CLDD, sensory processing difficulties, and SEMH
- Strong understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning pathways
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
- A flexible and creative approach to adapting teaching methods
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- A patient, resilient, and solution-focused mindset
Desirable
- Team Teach training (or willingness to complete training)
- Experience using sensory-based approaches and interventions
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and positive behaviour support
