SEN Teacher
Job description
We are working with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in the Preston area that is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join their team.
This role will involve working within a specialist provision or supporting pupils with additional needs across the school, ensuring they are fully supported to access the curriculum and achieve their individual goals. The school has a strong focus on inclusion and provides excellent support for both staff and pupils.
SEN Teacher in a Mainstream Primary School
Location: Nelson
Start Date: September 2026 (or sooner for transition)
Contract: Full-time
Salary: Dependent on experience – to be discussed at interview
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver tailored lessons to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
- Adapt the curriculum to meet a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, and speech & language difficulties
- Work closely with teaching assistants to implement effective support strategies
- Create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
- Monitor and track pupil progress through Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with the SENCo, parents, and external professionals
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being
The Ideal Candidate
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Has experience working with pupils with SEN in either mainstream or specialist settings
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of inclusive teaching practices
- Is patient, empathetic, and passionate about supporting children with additional needs
- Has excellent behaviour management and communication skills
- Works well as part of a team and is committed to professional development

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
