SEN KS3 Teacher & Horticulture Lead (Part-Time)
Salary: M1 – UPS2 (pro rata)
Hours: 2.5–3 days per week

We are seeking a dedicated SEN KS3 Teacher & Horticulture Lead to join a specialist education setting. This is a rewarding opportunity to combine classroom teaching with practical, outdoor education, helping students develop confidence, independence, and essential life skills.
About the School
Our client is a specialist school for students aged 11–16 with Special Educational Needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). The school combines the strengths of both mainstream and specialist education to create a nurturing environment where every student can achieve their potential.
The curriculum is designed to prepare young people for life beyond school, with employability, independence and further education at the heart of everything they do.
About the Role
As the SEN KS3 Teacher & Horticulture Lead, you will deliver engaging, personalised learning experiences that meet the diverse needs of students. Alongside teaching the KS3 curriculum, you will lead horticulture and outdoor learning opportunities that encourage students to build confidence, resilience and practical skills.
Working as part of a skilled multidisciplinary team, you will support students with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH and anxiety-related challenges, adapting your teaching to help every learner succeed.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, differentiated teaching tailored to individual learning needs.

Lead horticulture and outdoor education sessions that promote engagement, wellbeing and personal development.

Plan, deliver and evaluate creative lessons using short, medium and long-term planning.

Set, monitor and review personalised learning targets for each student.

Assess, record and report on student progress to parents, colleagues and external professionals.

Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff to provide holistic support.

Contribute to EHCP reviews, PEP meetings and other statutory processes.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of SEND best practice through continuous professional development.

Create a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment where students can thrive.
About You
Essential
-
PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.

Experience teaching within a school environment.
-
A passion for supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs.

Excellent communication, organisation and classroom management skills.
Desirable
-
Postgraduate qualification in Special Educational Needs.

Experience delivering a differentiated curriculum across a wide range of learning needs.

Experience leading Forest School, horticulture or other outdoor education programmes.

Knowledge of SEMH, Autism and ADHD.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
