Teaching Assistant (SEN)

Derby Pride Academy, Derby (DE24)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract: Full-time / Term Time Only
Start Date: As soon as possible

Derby Pride Academy is a specialist school dedicated to supporting children and young people with additional learning needs within a nurturing, inclusive, and aspirational environment. We are looking to appoint a committed and proactive Teaching Assistant to join our team and support our pupils in achieving their full potential both academically and socially.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs. You will play a key role in helping students access learning, develop confidence, and build the skills needed for greater independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups across the school.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated learning activities.
  • Support pupils in achieving their individual learning goals and EHCP outcomes.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage social and emotional development.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
  • Support students with a range of communication, sensory, and learning needs.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external agencies.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare of all students.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
  • A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to remain calm and adaptable when supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • A genuine commitment to inclusion and pupil development.
  • An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
