SEN Support Assistant
Job description
We are recruiting a committed and resilient SEN Support Assistant to join a specialist school in Morambe, supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and very challenging behaviour.
This role is suited to individuals who are calm under pressure, patient, and passionate about supporting children with complex needs in a highly structured and supportive environment.
The Role:
As an SEN Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and the wider multidisciplinary team to support pupils’ learning, communication, and emotional regulation. Many pupils display behaviours that challenge, and staff are expected to respond with consistency, empathy, and clear boundaries.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with PMLD

Support pupils with personal care, sensory activities, and physical needs where required

Assist in managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support strategies

Help create a safe, structured, and predictable learning environment

Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff

Follow safeguarding, health, and care plans at all times
Requirements:
-
Experience working with SEN, ideally PMLD and/or challenging behaviour

A calm, resilient, and consistent approach
-
Confidence supporting pupils with complex physical and emotional needs

Ability to work as part of a specialist team

A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable pupils

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
