SEN Supply Teachers – January Onwards – Andover, Hampshire
Flexible day-to-day and short-term roles | Competitive daily rates (pay to scale for long-term bookings)
Are you an SEN teacher looking for flexible work or a bit more variety? Primary and secondary SEN schools and specialist settings in Andover and nearby areas are looking for friendly, adaptable supply teachers to support them from January onwards.
Whether you’re happy picking up day-to-day cover or would prefer a longer-term role with more routine, there are plenty of options to fit around you. These schools support pupils with a range of additional needs and really value supply teachers who can step in, follow routines, and provide calm, supportive teaching.
About the Pupils
You may be working with pupils who:

Are autistic and have communication or sensory needs
-
Have moderate to severe learning difficulties (MLD/SLD)
-
Have speech, language, and communication needs
-
Need help with social interaction or understanding social cues
-
Have cognitive delays that affect learning and processing
-
Experience sensory overload or need help with regulation
-
Feel anxious when routines or staff change
A calm, consistent approach goes a long way in helping pupils settle and engage.
The Role
As an SEN Supply Teacher, you will:
-
Deliver pre-planned lessons and adapt activities where needed
-
Follow classroom routines to keep things predictable and calm
-
Work closely with TAs and follow guidance from SENCOs and class teachers
-
Use visual supports, structured approaches, and sensory strategies
-
Build positive relationships quickly to support engagement
-
Support personal care where required
-
Follow safeguarding and behaviour expectations
If you take on a longer-term role, this may also include planning and assessment, with pay in line with the Teacher Pay Scale (MPS/UPS).

Work: Day-to-day supply, short-term cover, and longer-term placements

Hours: Full-time or part-time, term-time only

Training: CPD available, including autism, sensory regulation, and communication strategies

Location: Andover and nearby areas (Ludgershall, Tidworth, Stockbridge, Amesbury)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
