Job description

SEN Primary Teaching Assistant

Bolton | Full Time | Immediate Start | Through Teaching Personnel

Do you believe every child deserves the chance to thrive, no matter their challenges?

Teaching Personnel is working closely with a welcoming and supportive SEN primary school in the Bolton area that is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to make a genuine difference to pupils who need patience, creativity, and encouragement to unlock their potential every day.

No two days are the same in this role. One moment you could be helping a child celebrate reading their first sentence independently, and the next you could be supporting a pupil to build confidence in social situations or regulate their emotions in the classroom.

About the Pupils

You will support children with a range of moderate Special Educational Needs (SEN), including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Sensory processing difficulties
  • Delayed social development and emotional regulation needs

Every pupil has individual learning goals, and your support will play a vital role in helping them achieve both academically and personally.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Forget the idea of being stuck at a desk all day. This is a hands-on, rewarding role where you'll:
  • Champion pupils' learning through engaging classroom support
  • Adapt activities to help children access lessons in a way that works for them
  • Build positive relationships that boost confidence, self-esteem and independence
  • Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and social development
  • Use creative approaches including visual aids, sensory resources and interactive learning techniques
  • Celebrate every achievement, no matter how small
  • Work alongside teachers, therapists and SEN professionals to create the best outcomes for pupils
  • Help create an inclusive environment where children feel safe, valued and understood

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with children, young people or individuals with SEN
  • A patient, nurturing and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to remain calm and positive when faced with challenges
  • A genuine interest in child development and inclusive education
  • Experience within schools, care settings, youth work, support work or coaching is highly desirable
