SEN Music Teacher
Job description
We are looking for a warm, creative, and enthusiastic music teacher to join our small SEN school in Lytham.
This role would suit someone who can teach piano, guitar, and singing, and who understands that for many young people, music is as much about confidence, expression, and emotional regulation as it is about technical skill.
About the Role
-
Teaching pupils aged 11–16 in very small groups (maximum of 5 pupils).
-
Delivering engaging, flexible music lessons tailored to individual needs.
-
Supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs.
-
Creating a calm, positive, and encouraging learning environment.
-
Using music as a tool for connection, confidence, and enjoyment.
About You
You are:
-
Confident teaching piano, guitar, and vocal work.
-
Patient, adaptable, and emotionally intuitive.
-
Warm, engaging, and confident in using creativity and light-heartedness to support pupil engagement.
-
Comfortable building rapport with young people who may be anxious, disengaged, or lacking confidence.
-
Calm and professional, even on challenging days.
-
Passionate about the power of music to support wellbeing and learning.
Experience working with SEN pupils is highly desirable, but we are equally interested in candidates with the right personality, empathy, and musical ability.
Formal teaching qualifications are welcome but not essential.
What We Offer
-
A genuinely supportive and understanding school environment.
-
Very small class sizes allowing meaningful one-to-one connection.
-
Flexible hours.
-
A role where creativity, humour, and individuality are encouraged.
-
The chance to make a real difference through music.
If you are a talented musician who believes learning should be accessible, joyful, and human, we would love to hear from you.
