We are looking for enthusiastic and caring SEN Learning Support Assistants to join welcoming schools across Thurrock. About the Role

As an SEN LSA, you'll play an important role in helping pupils access learning, develop their independence and make meaningful progress. You'll work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to provide individualised support based on each child's needs.

Many of the pupils you'll support will have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), giving you the opportunity to provide targeted support and help implement strategies that enable children to thrive both academically and socially.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEN.
• Support children with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, moderate and severe learning difficulties, and physical disabilities.
• Support the implementation of strategies and targets outlined in pupils' EHCPs.
• Adapt learning activities to suit individual abilities, needs and learning styles.
• Encourage communication, independence, confidence and positive social interaction.
• Promote positive behaviour through consistent and supportive approaches.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and other professionals.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and provide consistent emotional and academic support.
• Assist with personal care where required, depending on the individual role.

What We're Looking For

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in education, care or support settings.
• An understanding of SEN and the importance of personalised support.
• Ideally, some experience working with or understanding EHCPs.
• A patient, resilient and compassionate approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential — the right attitude, experience and commitment are equally valued.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
