Special Educational Needs Class Teacher

Safe, inclusive and nurturing schools in the Tameside area are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Class Teacher to join their Inclusion Hub and wider SEN provision. This is an exciting opportunity to support pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them build confidence, independence and key skills that will empower them both in school and beyond. The schools aim to eventually appoint the right person on a permanent basis.

Job Type: Full‑time
Salary: £130–160 per day
Start date: September 2026

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high‑quality, personalised learning that meets the diverse needs of pupils within the Inclusion Hub and SEN provision.
  • Adapt teaching strategies and resources to support a range of needs, including cognition & learning, communication & interaction, SEMH and sensory needs.
  • Set high expectations and clear standards, encouraging pupils to reach their highest potential through achievable, well‑structured steps.
  • Monitor and track progress using individual learning plans, EHCP targets and ongoing assessment.
  • Foster a calm, safe and inclusive environment where pupils feel supported, understood and valued.
  • Work closely with the wider SEN team, support staff and external professionals to ensure holistic provision.
  • Safeguard all pupils and promote their wellbeing at all times.

We’re Looking for Someone Who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Has experience working with pupils with special educational needs or a strong passion to specialise in SEN.
  • Can confidently adapt teaching to meet a wide range of abilities and learning styles.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication, teamwork and behaviour‑support skills.
  • Holds a valid DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
