Teaching Assistant (Full-Time)

Location: Basingstoke
Setting: 11–16 SEMH Provision (PRU – Short Stay)

An alternative education provision in Basingstoke is seeking to appoint a full-time Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 11–16 within a Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) setting. The provision operates as a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) and short stay school, providing a structured and supportive environment for young people who require additional behavioural and emotional support to access learning.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils both in and out of the classroom, contributing to the delivery of tailored learning programmes and promoting positive behaviour and engagement. The role involves supporting small groups and individual pupils, helping to establish routines, and fostering a calm and consistent learning environment.

Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly within SEMH, PRU, or alternative provision settings, is desirable. The role would suit a patient, resilient, and flexible individual who is committed to supporting vulnerable learners.

This is a full-time position.  Applicants must hold a Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one prior to appointment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
