Salary: £13.75 an hour

SEN Teaching Assistant

The Role:

You will be responsible for supporting classroom teachers in providing the best support possible to students ranging in the ages 5-16 years old, with various SEN and behavioural difficulties such as:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
  • Conduct Disorder (CD)
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
    • Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)
    • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
    • Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD)
    • Speech and Language Difficulties
    • Other behavioural needs

An SEMH Teaching Assistant plays a vital role in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. They work closely with teachers and other professionals to create:

  • A safe, inclusive learning environment
  • Provide tailored support
  • Help students develop coping strategies, social skills, and confidence to succeed both academically and personally

 

Who We Are Looking For:

  • SEMH experience
  • SEN(D) experience
  • Able to collaborate with teachers and other support staff
  • Understanding of positive behaviour support strategies
  • Able to de-escalate challenging situations calmly and safely

 

Working Hours/Benefits:

  • Full time, part time and flexible availability applicants will be considered for this role
  • Monday-Friday, 08:30-15:30
  • Term Time Only
  • 12.07% Holiday Pay
  • Access to CPD-accredited SEND training courses

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
