Join Teaching Personnel as a SEMH Teaching Assistant – South Norwood, South London

Location: South Norwood, South London (SE25)
Job Type: Full-time, Monday – Friday
Start Date: 5th September
Positions: 2 x SEMH Teaching Assistants

Are you compassionate, adaptable, and passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Teaching Personnel is recruiting 2 SEMH Teaching Assistants to support partner primary schools in South Norwood.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference, working closely with pupils to help them overcome barriers, develop emotional resilience, and thrive in school. Whether you have previous SEMH experience or are eager to develop your skills in this area, we’d love to hear from you!

The Role:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs

  • Assist with lesson delivery and adapt activities to meet individual needs

  • Implement strategies to support behaviour, self-esteem, and emotional regulation

  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and parents to create a supportive network

  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment

About You:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH or other special educational needs is desirable but not essential

  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach

  • Strong communication skills and ability to build trusting relationships

  • Resilient and passionate about inclusive education

  • Willingness to learn and develop in the role
