SEMH Teaching Assistant

Location: Old Swan, Liverpool (L13)
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Start: February 2026

Pay Rate: £13.75 - £14.50 per hour (depending on experience)

Are you passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you want to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and inclusive school environment? We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant specialist provision in the Old Swan area.


The Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges on a 1:1 and small‑group basis.
  • Help deliver tailored interventions to encourage emotional regulation, resilience, and positive learning behaviours.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider pastoral team.
  • Contribute to creating a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, or behavioural needs.
  • Brings patience, empathy, and a calm approach to challenging situations.
  • Can build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Has strong communication skills and a proactive attitude.
  • (Desirable) Holds a relevant qualification or training in SEN, behaviour management, or youth work.
