SEMH Teaching Assistant – Immediate Start
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a compassionate and motivated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a nurturing and inclusive specialist school in Bournemouth.
This full-time role offers the chance to support children and young people aged 5 to 18 with a range of complex needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Physical Disabilities (PD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).
About the Role and the School
This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, from 9.30am to 4.30pm, with an immediate start available. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and therapists to provide emotional, behavioural, and academic support.
You will play a key role in helping students develop social skills, manage emotions, and build confidence, ensuring they are equipped to thrive in and beyond the classroom.

Requirements
We are looking for an empathetic, patient, and proactive individual with a genuine passion for helping young people reach their potential.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
• A minimum of 6 months’ childcare experience
• Experience supporting children with SEN, particularly SEMH, ASD, PD, PMLD, or SLD
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• A calm, flexible, and nurturing approach to classroom support

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
