SEMH Teacher
Job description
Job Title: Primary Teacher. High-Needs Behaviour Provision
Location: LA1.
Contract: Full-time.
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly resilient, committed Primary Teacher to join a specialist provision supporting pupils with extremely challenging behaviour. This setting is not for the faint-hearted; pupils present with significant behavioural, emotional, and social needs and require consistent structure, clear boundaries, and calm, confident leadership.
We are particularly interested in candidates with an army, forces, or similar background, or those who have worked in high-pressure, high-discipline environments, as these skills transfer strongly into our setting. Above all, we are looking for someone who remains calm under pressure, can reset quickly after incidents, and is committed to making a long-term difference for vulnerable children.

Deliver structured, engaging lessons to primary-aged pupils with complex behavioural needs
-
Establish and maintain clear routines, boundaries, and expectations
-
Manage highly challenging behaviour using consistent, trauma-informed approaches
-
Build positive relationships while maintaining authority and control
-
Work closely with behaviour support, pastoral staff, and leadership teams
-
Prioritise safety, safeguarding, and emotional regulation at all times
The Ideal Candidate
-
A qualified Primary Teacher (QTS/QTLS preferred)
-
Experience in SEN, SEMH, PRU, alternative provision, or similar environments is highly desirable
-
Background in the armed forces, emergency services, or comparable disciplined roles is welcomed
-
Exceptionally resilient, calm, and emotionally robust
-
Confident in behaviour management and not easily overwhelmed by challenging situations
-
Committed, reliable, and able to maintain consistency day after day
Safeguarding
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
What We Offer
-
Strong leadership and on-site behaviour support
-
Clear systems, structure, and expectations
