SEMH Specialist School - Teacher/Cover Supervisor

Location: Dibden, Southampton
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Full-Time or Part-Time
DBS: Ideally already held, or willing to apply through Teaching Personnel

An independent specialist school in the New Forest area of Dibden, is seeking passionate and resilient Teachers and Cover Supervisors to support pupils aged 8–16 with SEMH needs, communication and interaction difficulties, and challenging behaviours. Many of the young people here come from care backgrounds and need consistent, supportive adults who can help them feel safe, understood and motivated to learn.

This is a fantastic opportunity for educators who want to work in a setting where every day genuinely makes a difference.

The Role:

  • Teach or supervise lessons across a broad curriculum

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may have experienced trauma or disrupted education

  • Use positive behaviour strategies and a trauma-informed approach

  • Work closely with a skilled, supportive staff team

  • Create a calm, structured and encouraging environment for pupils to re-engage with learning

We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teachers (QTS/QTLS) or experienced Cover Supervisors

  • Experience with SEMH, behaviour support or alternative provision is highly beneficial

  • Resilience, empathy and excellent communication skills

  • Confidence managing challenging situations in a calm and consistent manner

  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
