SEMH Support Assistant
Teaching Personnel are looking to appoint SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Support Assistants to work across our partner schools in York and the surrounding areas. Full-time and part-time applicants are encouraged to apply, term time only. Daily rates are competitive and dependent on experience.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational, care or support setting
• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, behavioural needs or additional learning needs is desirable
• A Level 2 or above qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or similar) is an advantage, but not mandatory
• Team Teach or other behaviour management training is beneficial, but not essential
Responsibilities within this role include:
• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
• Support pupils with emotional regulation and engagement in learning
• Implement behaviour support strategies in line with school policies
• Assist classroom teachers to ensure pupils make academic and social progress
• Support during break and lunch times as required
• Build positive working relationships with colleagues, pupils and parents/carers to ensure effective communication

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
