SEMH Support Practitioner / Specialist – Gloucester

Location: Gloucester
Role Type: Full-time / Part-time opportunities available
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Are you a passionate and experienced educator looking to make a real difference in young people’s lives?

We are seeking a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Support Specialist to work across schools in the Gloucester area, supporting students both on a 1:1 basis and within small group settings.


About the Role

This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with additional needs in mainstream and specialist settings. You will play a key role in helping students develop confidence, improve behaviour, and engage positively with learning.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing 1:1 tailored support for students with SEMH needs
  • Delivering small group interventions focused on emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement
  • Supporting students with complex needs including ASC, communication difficulties, and behavioural challenges
  • Building strong, positive relationships with pupils to promote trust and progress
  • Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and wider school staff to implement effective strategies
  • Creating a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment

About You

We are looking for an individual who brings experience, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Significant experience within education (mainstream, SEN, PRU or alternative provision)
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • A proven track record of building positive relationships that improve student outcomes and self-esteem
  • Experience supporting students with SEMH and complex needs
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to working across different school environments
  • A positive attitude, great sense of humour, and commitment to student success

A teaching background or relevant qualification (such as a PGCE or equivalent) would be highly beneficial.
