About the Role
Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Science Teacher to join a specialist provision supporting pupils aged 8–16. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The school caters for approximately 70 students and offers a nurturing, supportive environment with a strong focus on relationship-building, emotional development, and personalised learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons tailored to meet diverse SEMH needs
- Create a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment
- Support students in managing behaviour and developing emotional resilience
- Differentiate learning to ensure all pupils can access the curriculum
- Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and senior leadership
- Monitor and report on student progress and wellbeing
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Proven experience working with students with SEMH needs
- Strong behaviour management skills and a nurturing approach
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (due to rural location)
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience teaching Science across KS2–KS4
- Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches
- Experience in alternative provision or specialist settings

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
