Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Specialist Secondary Provision

Teaching Personnel is looking for a confident and passionate HLTA to join a specialist secondary provision supporting young people who need a more tailored approach to education.
About the Setting
This is a small, supportive secondary provision catering for students aged 11–16 who may have:
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH)
- Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC)
- Behavioural challenges and barriers to learning
The school offers a structured yet nurturing environment, with strong relationships at its core. Staff work closely with students to rebuild confidence, re-engage them in learning, and support both their academic and personal development.
Your Role as HLTA
You’ll play a key role in the classroom and beyond, including:
- Leading lessons and small group interventions in the teacher’s absence
- Supporting students with individual learning plans and emotional regulation
- Assisting with behaviour management strategies in a calm and consistent way
- Working collaboratively with teachers and pastoral teams
- Helping create a positive, engaging and safe learning environment
- Acting as a role model and mentor, building trust and resilience in pupils
✅ What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience working with SEN students, particularly SEMH or ASC
- HLTA status or strong relevant classroom experience
- A calm, patient and resilient approach to behaviour support
- Confidence to lead learning activities independently
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers and succeed

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
