English Teacher – SEMH Independent School

Contract: 12-week temporary to permanent

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient English Teacher to join a small, independent SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator who is committed to making a meaningful impact on the lives of young people who require additional support to engage with education.
The school provides a nurturing and structured environment for students with SEMH needs, focusing on both academic progress and personal development. Class sizes are small, allowing for a more personalised and supportive teaching approach.
The Role:
- Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons tailored to students with SEMH needs
- Support students in developing literacy skills, confidence, and emotional regulation
- Build strong, positive relationships to promote engagement and trust
- Work collaboratively with support staff and leadership to implement individual learning plans
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Have experience teaching English at secondary level
- Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills and emotional resilience
- Have a genuine passion for supporting students with SEMH needs
- Be adaptable, patient, and able to think creatively in challenging situations
- Experience within an SEN or alternative provision setting is desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
