SEMH English Teacher
Job description
We are working on behalf of a small, specialist secondary school in Woking, Surrey to recruit t a dedicated and passionate English Teacher. This is an excellent opportunity for an educator who is motivated by making a genuine difference in the lives of young people who require a more personalised and therapeutic approach to education.
About the School
Our client is an independent specialist provision supporting pupils aged 11–17 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and associated needs such as autism and ADHD. The school offers a child-centred, trauma-informed and nurturing environment, with small class sizes and a strong focus on individual progress, wellbeing and re-engagement with learning.
The Role
As an English Teacher, you will:

Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons across Key Stage 3, Entry Level, Functional Skills and GCSE, tailored to individual learner needs

Inspire pupils by making English accessible, relevant and meaningful

Build positive, trusting relationships to support both academic and emotional development

Work closely with support staff and a wider multi-disciplinary team
-
Contribute to curriculum development and whole-school initiatives
-
Maintain high expectations around behaviour, progress and personal development
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an English specialist who:
-
Has strong subject knowledge and the ability to adapt teaching for diverse learners
-
Is confident supporting pupils with SEMH and complex needs (experience preferred but not essential)

Demonstrates excellent classroom management and emotional intelligence
-
Is patient, resilient and passionate about inclusive education
-
Holds, or is working towards, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS preferred)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
